It’s a family thing.

We are the Anderson’s! We have developed our products through 10 years of running a restaurant and catering business as a family. This time well spent around family and good food has spurred our desire to bring our best products to you!

How did we get here?

Growing up on a farm Jared spent time cultivating the fields and feeding cattle in the family feed yard. His family taught him the value of hard work and dedication to the soil.

After a college degree in Agriculture Economics and Marketing Jared married his wife Jonetta, began a family and started a hay marketing business in Colorado, continuing the farming heritage. It was during this time, during the rainy days of hay season that Jared began researching a new hobby-Dutch Oven cooking.

The love of camping and the outdoors was instilled in Jared at a young age alongside his grandparents fishing and camping adventures in the Colorado wilderness. Inspired also by the pure joy of meals eaten on backcountry elk hunting trips Jared decided that great food served up in outdoor environments made for some awesome memories.

And so our journey continues, whether providing high quality hay & feed for animal nutrition or cooking up a family meal, a relentless pursuit of excellence in all we do has driven us to make food better!

We have provided our cooking talents for a variety of folks ranging from a Colorado backcountry outfitter, Cowboy camps and scouting groups, countless weddings, meetings and get-togethers, serving thousands across Colorado & the West.

Where are we now?

We truly enjoy bringing God’s Faith Hope and Love to people through great food and shared outdoor experiences.

  • It has been Jared’s dream to put awesome food in convenient packages for access by more people.  To this end, we have decided to put our “Sunshine in a bottle” and sell our handcrafted products to the masses.  We are currently selling in select retail markets.

  • We believe in being stewards of the resources God has granted us.  In our outdoor world that’s taking care of our land for the future of farming and ranching.  It’s appreciating and taking care to protect our history of food and agriculture while pursuing the New Frontier in food technology and flavors.

  • Stewardship of our wildlands means utilizing those resources but yet conserving and protecting ways of life and places of respite for both man and beast.

  • In our personal lives, it means taking care of our finances, time, talents, our treasures, and our bodies.

  • We want to be the best we can be in every area of life so that we can be good stewards of what God has given to us.

Make it different.

OUR MISSION

We don’t just make great food….We make food great!

A Relentless Pursuit of Excellence!

Whatever you do, work at it with your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23

  • We desire to serve people

  • We love creating awesome food products.

  • We think great food, in great venues make great experiences.

OUR PURPOSE

Love God. Serve People.

To Love others as God first loved us and to serve others as we would want to be served.

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37,39

OUR VISION

Slow food down. Slow life down.

Cultivating Community

We believe food is always at the focal point of our most memorable conversations and meaningful relationships.

Great nutrition begins with knowing who is producing your food, where it comes from, and how it’s produced. But it’s so much more than what’s in our food. It’s how we prepare it, serve it, and who we share it with.

Creating community means taking a proactive approach to knowing your neighbor. Being committed to your community means serving them. We believe in creating community and creating lasting friendships.

Made with love in Colorado.

The family businesses have shown me that you can always have different adventures and when one thing doesn’t work out you can always start up something else and keep on going.

My favorite memory in the food business is definitely the nights all 7 of us were down at the restaurant making and serving wood fired pizzas! We were crazy busy but we all worked hard to make sure the customers were happy and we had a lot of fun doing it.

The family business brings together all of our family’s traits. Because we all have a different “fun” side that we bring out. Whether it’s doing card tricks for a room of complete strangers or telling a joke to someone as they come thru the food line, we all have a unique way we get to know someone new. That is my favorite part of catering, the new friends and new faces we become close to throughout.

The family business has instilled in me that hard work and dedication pay off and that treating the customer well and serving good food pays off.

As we look back over some of the favorite life events, camping trips, hunting trips, and jeeping trips, what always comes to mind is the memories created preparing and sharing meals over campfires and from Dutch ovens, dining from picnic tables or rock chairs and engaging in conversation under the stars.

Time well spent in God’s wild outdoors cannot be overstated. Experiences like cooking up wild-caught trout over a campfire, or coming into the respite of a warm canvas tent from a long ride into elk camp, while the snowflakes fall outside in the darkness, to find chili and a cup of hot coffee under the light of a gas lantern while a pinewood fire burns in the stove is something that can’t be outdone.

We Cater Great Food.

Outback Cookin’ & Catering and The Dutch Oven Smokehouse specialize in taking care of all your catering and food service needs whether it be a corporate luncheon, a backyard BBQ, a 5 star wedding event or an adventure in the remote wilderness.  Our goal is to make your event or outdoor experience less worrisome so that you can simply enjoy your event.
